Matt Cutts, the head of the Google WebSpam Team, trembled the SEO industry with an alarming announcement at the recent SES San Francisco Conference, that there will be a new round up of updations in the Google Algorithm, bigger than the Feb 2011 Panda update which jolted the industry with nearly 12 % search result alteration. Along with Media Global VP Mike Grehan, Matt presided over the discussion on Panda, Penguin, social signals, duplicate content, transparency, and much more.

At the recent SES San Francisco Conference, he told that the next few rounds up Google Algorithm would be “jarring and jolting” for both webmasters as well as SEOs. This is the first time that Google has given such a warning about a pending rank update. This clearly indicates that storms are back on track to shake up the SEO Industry once again. Matt argued his fact claiming how his team of engineers has been working hard over the last couple of months for such scalable rank update.

Soon after his statement, though Matt Cutts reassured that he was referring to the repeated questions he faced at the SES San Francisco Conference as to when would the next Penguin Update be. He wanted the webmasters to know that Penguin Update was still in very early stages and needed a lot of work to be done by the engineers rather than just minor data refresh updates that most people are expecting. His statement that the new Penguin updates won’t just be data refreshments, would mean more jolts for Spammers, Webmasters and SEOs in the coming months.

Whether it will be a new Google Algorithm Update like Panda and Penguin or an update to the Penguin Algorithm change itself, one thing for sure is that it is going to be on bigger scale and cannot be compared with the small tweaks that Google usually does on monthly basis. This announcement is surely expected to cause much speculation, that how much level of updations we’ll see from the Google and what alterations it will cause in the search results. Subsequently, he said a lot but all invariably stroking a deep sense of confusion in the minds of SEOs and the webmasters.

According to Matt Cutts, a greater role of social media (especially Google Plus) could also be seen as it has become the most important tool in the online platform today, and play crucial role in organic rankings or something related to Negative SEO. Whatever it might be, it would surely create more difficulties for the webmasters to get their sites ranked or the first page of Google.
